I’m a computer scientist and jazz trombonist exploring the intersection of creativity and machine learning. I’m particularly interested in Computational Creativity, Music Information Retrieval, and Artist-First AI.
I’m currently doing my MSc in Sound and Music Computing in the Music Technology Group at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain, where I’m supervised by Martín Rocamora and co-supervised by Laura Ibáñez-Martínez and Pablo Alonso-Jiménez. Previously, I was at Simon Fraser University where I double majored in Computer Science and Statistics.
Before pivoting to Computer Science, I was a recipient of the Moe Koffman Memorial Music Scholarship at the University of Toronto where I studied Music with a focus in Jazz. I play in a variety of groups and settings that center around improvisation. Come say “hey” at any upcoming shows I’m playing with some very talented and inspiring friends.
At BetterCart Analytics, I work as a Machine Learning Engineer on the ML/Data platform, where I’ve led ML and IR systems processing over 60,000,000 new records per week across 6,000+ stores and 100+ retailers. My work spans Retrieval Systems, End-to-End ML Pipelines, and Data Orchestration & Deployment.
I grew up on the west coast, play a lot of basketball/tennis, and am constantly slamming my head against the wall trying to finish up compositions. Feel free to reach out for collaborations—analog or digital!
